How Do You Write an Essay in Third Person: Academic Guidelines

When you are writing an essay in third person you should make sure that your essay contains the following sections and that they adhere to the following guidelines:

Introductory paragraph

In the introduction, it is very essential to write on the essay statement. This is like a mini-outline or summary on the essay. The last part of the paragraph should have a good transitional sentence that will efficiently move the reader to the next paragraph.

Body - First paragraph

In this section, you should ensure that your strongest argument and most significant information are provided. The first sentence of the paragraph should have a ‘reverse hook’ which accompanies the transitional hook in the former paragraph. The subject for your first paragragh should be in the first and second sentence. In fact, the subject should directly relate back toward the thesis or topic sentence you had in your introduction.

Body - Second paragraph

The next part of your essay is the second paragraph. The second paragraph of the essay should include the next argument you have, or where you include your second most important example and the second cleverest illustration. This should be a good link between the first paragraph and the body. A reverse hook is very necessary in the beginning of the paragraph. It should link the contents of the two paragraphs.

Body - Third paragraph

The third paragraph of the body should have the weakest argument, example and illustration. Per se, these should not be weak, but they should have relevant information whose strength is okay. A reverse hook that links the second paragraph to the third one should be included in the first line. The topic of this paragraph should be included in the second line of the paragraph.

Concluding paragraph

The final paragraph should provide a well thought summary. The summary should be very different from the traditional summaries as it should be very solid. You should restate the thesis and the 3 supporting ideas in an original and powerful way.
